In the business of business, being tough, ambitious, diplomatic or intelligent is what many people think is the only way forward. Trust me this is where we all fail to understand the underlying qualities a leader should possess. Most of the time it is the softer things that are harder to master. The real essence of a leader is projected through his qualities of empathy, kindness, patience, approachable, considerateness, and humbleness.
Leadership consists of a well-balanced mixture, inclusive of both intellectual and emotional ingredients. Act of kindness is what we think is must when needed, but not as a foundation for successful business. We are enable to correlate how being kind is going to make us wealthy or famous, but don’t be surprised if I reiterate the fact that ‘kindness’ can play a pivotal role to lead one to the path of an unprecedented success and rank up as a ‘Role Model’.
Kindness rekindles empathy and deploys a less judgmental psyche. A perception that flows down about being taken for granted if one is kind, is the very reason why people act defensive. To me, kindness is the most underrated sign of growth and leadership. One must muster great strength to be kind and considerate without being opinionated. Don’t confuse kindness with being an easy influence. You can be kind in your act and voice but still hold tough grounds on your beliefs and actions.
Kindness is the real flex. Leveraging emotional ingredients to solve & evolve, move and rise persistently still remains a real challenge amongst many leaders. Leadership has always been known as leading from the front, but most of the time it is about leading from the back. Bite the bullet, harness perennial growth, build inclusive culture, empower workforce, lead by example, be exceptional, make a long lasting impact, give reason to emulate etc the list gets longer while one transform from ‘LEADER’ to a ‘ROLE-MODEL’
